November 2018

Year 2 have had a bostin’ day at the Black Country Museum. Children have had the chance to ride on transport from the past, watch a black and white Laurel and Hardy film and experienced what life would have been like for a Victorian child. Children were a credit to Elston Hall and impressed the tour guides with their manners and enthusiasm.

Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Tamworth Castle where they had the opportunity to dress up as Anglo-Saxon soldiers, take part in an archaeological dig and re-enact a battle! The children were a credit to Elston Hall, asking relevant questions and impressing the staff at Tamworth castle with their knowledge about Anglo-Saxons.

9th November 2018

The day started with a wonderful, moving assembly performed by our Year 6 children to commemorate Remembrance Day. Children spent the day creating art work,  writing poems, making monuments or making poppy biscuits so they could learn about and understand the significance of the day.  Some of our children had the opportunity to attend the Wolverhampton Schools Remembrance Service and marched through the city centre alongside veterans and soldiers. All the children have contributed to our wonderful school display in the entrance hall.

November 2018

We hope you have had a wonderful half term break and we look forward to seeing the children safely back in school on Monday 5th November.

On Friday 5th October 2018 Elston Hall was 80 years old!
We had an amazing day celebrating, sharing memories with ex pupils and recreating school life in the 1930's for our current children. Thank you very much to our 80 year old visitors who fascinated the children with their memories of school life!

Year 1 had a fantastic time visiting the Think Tank in Birmingham. They learned all about the organs in their bodies by meeting Tommy the life size doll and opening him up inside. The children asked brilliant questions about the organs and some children even knew the function of certain organs. As well as the body workshop, children also spent time in the Kid City where there was plenty of opportunities of role play and construction. Children also loved visiting the science garden and had lots of fun on the car with square wheels and the giant hamster wheel! Children thoroughly enjoyed the day at the museum but they also enjoyed a little nap on the way home too!

Year 5 had a fantastic time at Moseley Old Hall recently. They joined in re-enacting King Charles II infamous escape to Moseley Old Hall and took part in writing secret messages using quills! They even had the opportunity to see priest hole, where Charles had to hide from the Roundheads! Year 5 were an absolute pleasure to take on the trip and, as always, were excellent representatives of our school. They answered questions, listened well and showed 'Outstanding' behaviour throughout. We are very proud of you all.
