On Friday 17th January, girls from year 5 and 6 represented Elston Hall at the 5 aside football tournament. It was the first time that the girls had played together as a team. The girls played fantastic together. Throughout the tournament the girls played 5 matches. They won one, drew three and lost one game. Well done girls!
Children across the school have loved finding out about their new topics!
Paddington's Space Mission is underway in Year 1. Children spent the afternoon making alien pictures and rockets.
Year 3 started their 'Invaders and Traders' topic with a trip to Italy!
Year 4 introduced 'Hey Mr DJ' topic by having a fancy dress disco and learning about different genres of music.
Year 5 introduced their 'Amazing Africa' topic with an African afternoon. Children made tribal bracelets and some children dressed in traditional African outfits.
All staff hope you had a Merry Christmas and wish you a very Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing the children safely back in school on Tuesday 7th January 2020!
Residents and staff at Leabrook and Veronica House have received our annual Christmas cards this year. Thank you to all the children at Elston Hall for making such beautiful cards - they were gratefully received.
Year 5 were excited to receive cards from their French Partner School. They have made New Year Cards to send back to them.
Thank you to St James' Church for joining Year 4 and the school choir in our annual carol concert. What a lovely start to the Christmas festivities!
Year 4 had a fantastic time at Birmingham Sealife Centre. There were many highlights of our visit such as watching the feeding of Gentoo Penguins, getting up close with giant rays and Reef Sharks in the Ocean Tunnel, jumping aboard the Polar Express in the 4D cinema and a surprise visit from Santa! The children behaved impeccably and were a credit to our school.
Score: Elston 2 St Stephens 18
Elston’s second game of netball was against St Stephens. The girls tried their best and never gave up. Some great passing allowed us to score two goals.
Despite the result, the girls should be very proud of themselves. Elston Hall showed great team spirit and determination throughout the game. Well done girls, we are proud of you!
Year 5 became explorers at the Space Centre. They had fantastic opportunities to test their coding skills through the challenge of moving a mars buggy. Eyes were wide with wonder in the planetarium as they went into outer space, exploring the galaxies - it was as if we were really there! It was an incredible day and children were truly in awe of all that they experienced and saw.
