Ancient Greek Day

Thank you to Portals of the Past for an amazing day!
Our day started with a short talk on Greek life and culture, and the Battles of Thermopylae and Marathon. Children then used secondary sources to find out information about -
Greek Gods, City States, The Olympic games, Alexander the Great, Greek World,
Philosophers, Mythical Creatures and Heroes.
Children certainly had the chance to exercise their minds when playing an Ancient Greek strategy game and solving Archimedes puzzle!
After lunch, a Greek warrior fresh from battle demonstrated weapons and armour. Children learnt about the differences between the city of Athens and Sparta and had a lesson in democracy and debating!
Finally, they held their own mini Olympics!
