White Watch Visit Reception!

March 2025

This week, Reception had an exciting visit from the Old Falling Fire Service White Watch, and it was an experience our little learners will never forget! The children had the opportunity to get up close and personal with some real-life heroes, learning all about fire safety, equipment, and even having a go with a fire hose!

The firefighters from the White Watch arrived in full gear, with their shiny fire truck and all the necessary equipment, ready to share their knowledge with the children. The Reception class was buzzing with excitement as they gathered around to hear all about the vital role the fire service plays in keeping our communities safe.

The highlight of the visit, of course, was the chance for the children to try out the fire hose! With the guidance of the firefighters, the children had an absolute blast taking turns to spray water, learning how strong and powerful the hoses can be. Everyone took a turn aiming the hose at a target, which helped them understand how fire hoses are used to control and extinguish fires.

The firefighters also showed the children some of the special tools they use to help people during emergencies. They demonstrated how the equipment works and explained how each item is essential for their daily duties.

A massive thank you to the Old Falling Fire Service White Watch for taking the time to visit and educate our Reception class. The children had an unforgettable experience and left with a deeper understanding of the incredible work firefighters do.

We also encourage parents to continue the conversation at home about fire safety and the role of the fire service. It’s an important topic that we hope our little ones will carry with them as they grow and learn more about the world around them.
