Year 4 Visit to the Mosque (Feb 25)

Writer's picture: Elston Hall Primary SchoolElston Hall Primary School

Year 4 visited the Mosque in Wolverhampton as part of our RE learning. We met Hamza, who showed us around the mosque and answered our questions.  He was very impressed with our knowledge and how much we could recall about the Islamic faith. The Mosque is beautiful and we loved looking at all the colours and patterns, particularly in the artwork and carpets. Upstairs, we saw some of the special artefacts at the Mosque, and Hamza explained the times for the five prayers a day. Tomorrow is also the start of Ramadan, which is such a special time for Muslims. Some of our children were excited to share their faith with their peers and show them the features of the Mosque.

The staff were impressed with our behaviour, our manners and our respect and calmness inside. They also said we knew such a lot about Islam and must have been listening hard and learning a lot at school.

Heidi: I loved the dome inside. the chandelier was really sparkly and shiny.

Isabelle: The floor was filled will so many different patterns.

Cian: I know that the people at the Mosque pray. They pray five times a day. The carpet was soft and had patterns.

Zoya: I attend Saturday school at this mosque. I’m so excited that Ramadan will start tomorrow. I loved showing my friends around and wearing my scarf today.

Ella: I visit a different mosque but this one is so friendly too.

Garrett: The inside of the dome has writing from the Qu’ran. I saw lots of words in different languages and English too. It was so interesting to look around.
